In this session, participants are invited to bring a real, unresolved challenge related to their facilitation practice, work context, or strategic direction.
Rather than trying to “solve” problems, we’ll use futures-informed sensemaking to explore these situations from new angles, surfacing assumptions, uncertainties, and possible ways forward.
We’ll also reflect on what this kind of work requires from facilitators: judgment, restraint, and the ability to hold ambiguity without rushing to action.
Useful for:
This session will be useful for facilitators who want to practice applying futures thinking to messy, real-world situations, and to observe how sensemaking can be supported without turning into advice-giving or coaching.
What’s the point of this SIG?
The Facilitating Futures & Foresight SIG focuses on helping facilitators help others make sense of change, identity, and choice, using futures and facilitation approaches.
Sessions are designed as “learning-by-doing” and “learning-by-sharing” experiences. You don’t need prior futures expertise. Come curious, willing to reflect, and open to engage.
