IAF North America
The IAF North America Region was established on 1 January 2023 through a merger of the Canada and United States of America regions.
Within the North American region, we are committed to helping IAF members gain value at the global, regional, national and local levels. Globally, we love to see members plug into the many programs and benefits available within the Association, such as certification, mentorship and the Facilitation Impact Awards, alongside truly international attendance at global digital meetups. Regionally, we are looking ahead to the return of in-person conferences, which will include opportunities to get together with national colleagues. In the meantime, we’d love to hear from you if you’d like to lead one of our digital learning meetups this year! And locally, we encourage our members to get together in person near where they live. IAF membership offers professional development, credibility and support at multiple levels, and we’d love for you to get involved.
If you have any questions please contact Manal Sayid, Regional Director for North America.

New York City
The IAF New York Chapter (NYCFG) is a vibrant community dedicated to the professional development of facilitators in the art, science, tools, and techniques of group facilitation.
Originally founded as an in-person group serving the New York metro and tri-state area (Southern Connecticut, New Jersey, and downstate New York), the chapter now welcomes participants from across the United States and around the globe through virtual and hybrid programming, while still maintaining strong NYC-based, in-person momentum.
Our members
Our members include facilitators, trainers, consultants, business leaders, mediators, coaches, and organizational development professionals working across diverse sectors, including organizational consulting, social policy, business management, quality improvement, community engagement, and more.
While many participants are members of the International Association of Facilitators, IAF membership or certification is not required to attend chapter events. What matters most is a commitment to learning, practicing, and strengthening the craft of facilitation.
What you can expect
Our gatherings are designed to:
- Strengthen facilitation practice
- Explore new methodologies and tools
- Exchange ideas and lived experience
- Build professional community
We host both virtual and in-person sessions throughout the year. Whether you’re a seasoned facilitator or deepening your practice, NYCFG offers space to stretch, experiment, and grow alongside peers.

Ottawa
Ottawa Chapter Meetings (new dates coming soon!)
All meetings are usually held from 7 pm to 9 pm, unless otherwise indicated. Locations to be determined.
The Ottawa Chapter meets 5 times a year, typically in September, November, January, April and June (subject to change). Our June session usually includes a reflection on the year and then in either in June or September, we select topics and hosts for the next season of gatherings. Our venue varies for each gathering – often going to different members’ places of work. The logistics for the gatherings are circulated to our chapter members about 2 weeks in advance.
