Dear members,

The recent members survey has given us a lot of valuable information and insights to work with as an organisation.

On behalf of the Board, I want to thank everyone who took the time to respond. The responses from across our regions give us a useful picture of where IAF is today, what members value, where they see opportunities, and also where there are concerns and frustrations.

One important message is that these things exist at the same time. There is commitment to IAF and to our profession, together with questions about some of the changes we have been going through and how we have been communicating and working as an organisation. We should be aware of both sides.

The priorities highlighted in the survey, stronger member value and engagement, professional excellence and certification, innovation and future readiness, global growth and sustainability, are closely connected to the strategic directions we have been developing.

Our task now is not to produce another document with good words in it. It is to make choices and turn these priorities into practical focus for IAF. This means continuing to improve the value of membership, professional development and certification, strengthening connections across our community, and creating space for new ideas and initiatives.

The Board has an important role in this process, bringing together the different inputs, keeping the wider organisational picture in view, and providing the direction needed for IAF to move forward.

Now we have an opportunity to work on the strategic pillars together, with different ways to contribute and with a clear understanding of the process through which the final priorities will be agreed. I look forward to this next step and to the contributions that will help us shape a focused and practical direction for IAF.
