This Father’s Day, the International Association of Facilitators is taking a moment to recognise and celebrate the fathers, father figures, and caregivers within our global community whose presence, guidance, and care make a lasting difference in the lives of others.
Fatherhood, much like facilitation, is often expressed through everyday acts that may go unnoticed but have a profound impact. It can mean listening deeply, creating space for growth, offering encouragement during challenging moments, and helping others navigate uncertainty with confidence and trust.
Across our profession, many facilitators bring these same qualities into the groups, organisations, and communities they serve. They help people connect, learn, collaborate, and thrive. Whether at home, in the workplace, or in community spaces, fathers and father figures often play an important role in supporting others to find their own voice, build resilience, and move forward with purpose.
This Father’s Day, we are proud to share Voices on Fatherhood—a collection of reflections from members of the IAF community who have shared what fatherhood means to them and how it shapes the way they show up in their lives, relationships, and facilitation practice.
Their stories remind us that leadership is not always about having the answers. Often, it is about being present, creating trust, offering support, and helping others discover their own path. These are qualities that many fathers and father figures embody every day.
We also recognise that fatherhood takes many forms. Today, we celebrate not only fathers, but also grandfathers, stepfathers, mentors, guardians, caregivers, and all those who provide guidance, encouragement, and care to others.
A special thank you goes to Irene Maweu, Regional Director for Africa, whose vision and leadership brought this campaign to life and helped us gather these meaningful reflections from across our global community.
To all the fathers, father figures, and caregivers in our community: thank you for the care you give, the example you set, and the spaces you create for others to grow.
We see you, we appreciate you, and we celebrate you.
Happy Father’s Day from the International Association of Facilitators.
