Celebrating the power of women in facilitation!

This Mother’s Day, the IAF Africa Region is taking a moment to honour the incredible women who continue to shape our profession and communities with care, wisdom, and presence. Facilitation is often about nurturing ideas, holding space for growth, guiding transformation, and creating environments where people feel heard, valued, and empowered.

Under the leadership of our Regional Director for Africa, Irene Maweu, we are proud to share this special initiative, Women in Facilitation: In Their Own Words: a collection of reflections from women across the IAF community on facilitation, motherhood, leadership, resilience, and the power of human connection.

The voices featured here remind us that facilitation is not only about guiding conversations. It is also about listening deeply, creating trust, encouraging ownership, and supporting meaningful growth long after the session ends.

To the mothers who facilitate at home and in the boardroom, and to the women who lead spaces with heart and intention: we see you, we celebrate you, and we thank you.
