The next generation of our craft is already here.
The facilitators who will shape the next decade of our field are already practising: running their first sessions, facilitating as part of other roles, asking questions the field hasn’t answered yet. Future Now is where they meet experienced practitioners as equals.
We are a global, peer-led IAF community for everyone who helps groups work well together: facilitators, coaches, trainers, team leads, and many others who facilitate without the title. We believe the craft grows when we learn across generations and geographies, and that the future of facilitation is shaped by the conversations we have now.
What We Bring
Everyone who joins brings something, and everyone leaves with something. We meet online one to two times a month, for 60 to 90 minutes, in three formats.
Connect Hubs: a space to think out loud. Think of a coffee break with people who do the same work you do. No agenda, no one leading. People bring whatever is on their mind: a session that went sideways, a question they can’t shake, a small win nobody else noticed. You leave with a new idea, a clearer question, or simply a reminder of why this work matters.
Connect & Share: learn from a fellow practitioner. Each session is hosted by a facilitator sharing an approach from their own practice. Past sessions have explored turning “why are we here?” into real engagement, inclusive facilitation for neurodiverse groups, co-facilitation, and the good, the bad and the ugly of our craft. Come to try things out, ask questions, and take something back to your next session.
Facilitation Playground (launching soon): try it here first. Bring a workshop design in progress, a method you haven’t used yet, or an idea you’re unsure about. Run it with peers who will tell you honestly what worked and what didn’t, and who want it to work.
What we’ve learned
Nearly three years in, one thing keeps coming up. There are many places to learn about facilitation, but few where facilitators can put down the role of the one who knows. Here you can. Ask the beginner question, admit what didn’t work, play with an idea that isn’t ready yet, and get support and honest advice without judgement.
Along the way, our conversations have sparked friendships, collaborations, and countless moments of “I thought I was the only one dealing with this.” We’re still evolving, still experimenting, and still learning alongside the people who join us.
Join Us
Future Now is free, online, and open to facilitators everywhere, whatever your title or experience. You don’t need to be an IAF member to join. As an IAF community, we are one of the ways to connect with and take part in IAF. The community is led by Bryan Guzmán and Olesia Maibakh.
