IAF Latin America & Caribbean (LAC) Shine Online Series
Online facilitation comes with a unique set of challenges: distance, distraction, fewer social cues and the constant challenge of keeping people connected and engaged through a screen.
This session explores how facilitators can use emotional intelligence to create online experiences where participants feel seen, psychologically safe, included and motivated to contribute.
This is not a general lecture on emotional intelligence. Instead, the focus is on what emotionally intelligent facilitators actually do differently before, during and after an online session and how these practices can strengthen connection, participation and learning.
What will you gain?
By the end of the session, participants will be better able to:
- Recognise the emotional and relational challenges that come with online facilitation.
- Monitor and manage their own emotional state, energy and presence.
- Read the virtual room using limited verbal and non-verbal cues.
- Create psychological safety, connection and inclusion in online spaces.
- Respond constructively to silence, resistance, disengagement and disruption.
- Design emotionally intelligent moments that sustain participation, connection and learning.
Join the IAF Latin America & Caribbean (LAC) Shine Online Series for a practical exploration of how emotional intelligence can help facilitators turn the challenges of the virtual environment into opportunities for deeper connection and more meaningful participation.
