In this session, we’ll explore how silent and low-verbal facilitation approaches can be used to support futures thinking, sensemaking, and inclusion in group settings.

Working with short prompts and structured reflection, participants will engage in a futures exercise that relies primarily on writing, noticing, and patterning, rather than discussion.

We’ll close by reflecting on how facilitators can intentionally design for pace, inclusion, and cognitive space when working with futures and uncertainty.

Useful for:
This session will be useful for facilitators who want to experiment with calm, accessible, and reflective approaches to futures-oriented group work.

Important: we often use breakout rooms, whiteboards, and plenary discussions. Please be prepared to turn on your camera, use your mic, and participate.

What’s the point of this SIG?

The Facilitating Futures & Foresight SIG focuses on helping facilitators help others make sense of change, identity, and choice, using futures and facilitation approaches.

Sessions are designed as “learning-by-doing” and “learning-by-sharing” experiences. You don’t need prior futures expertise. Come curious, willing to reflect, and open to engage.
